Anhui Province is located in eastern China, spanning the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze and Huaihe Rivers. It borders Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the east, Hubei and Henan to the west, Jiangxi to the south, and Shandong to the north, covering a total area of 140,100 square kilometers. As of 2023, its permanent population is approximately 61.21 million, with the capital being Hefei. Anhui has a long history and profound cultural heritage, being one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization. It boasts diverse cultural systems such as Hui culture, Huaihe culture, Wanjiang culture, and Luzhou culture. The province is home to famous attractions including Mount Huangshan, a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site, and Xidi and Hongcun, UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites. 1. Mount Huangshan Scenic Area: Located in Huangshan City, about 60 km from the city center, it is a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site, famous for its "Five Wonders": odd-shaped pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds, hot springs, and winter snow. Hongcun: Located in Yi County, about 60 km from Huangshan city center, it is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, renowned for its Huizhou-style ancient villages and water systems like South Lake and Moon Pond. Ticket price: 94 RMB/person. Opening hours: 7:30-17:30. Visitors can admire Ming and Qing architecture such as Chengzhi Hall and Nanhu Academy, experiencing the "village in a painting" atmosphere.

3. Mount Jiuhua: Located in Qingyang County, Chizhou City, about 40 km from Chizhou Station, it is one of China's four sacred Buddhist mountains and the bodhimanda of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Ticket price: 160 RMB/person. Opening hours: 7:00-17:00. Visitors can pay homage to the Flesh Body Hall and Hundred-Year Palace, and ascend Tian Terrace Peak to view the sea of clouds.

4. Xidi: Also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site along with Hongcun, located in Yi County, about 50 km from Huangshan city center. Ticket price: 104 RMB/person. Opening hours: 7:30-17:30. Known for ancient architecture such as Hu Wenguang Memorial Archway and Jing'ai Hall, the village has a well-planned layout and exquisite stone and wood carvings.

5. Mount Tianzhu: Located in Qianshan City, Anqing City, about 80 km from Anqing city center, it is a UNESCO Global Geopark, famous for granite peak forest landforms and Taoist culture. Ticket price: 130 RMB/person. Opening hours: 7:00-17:00. Visitors can explore attractions such as Tianzhu Peak, Mysterious Valley, and Alchemy Lake.

II. Special Cuisine

Hui cuisine is one of China's eight major culinary traditions. Representative dishes include: Stinky Mandarin Fish (smells strong but tastes delicious, recommended at Huangshan Old Street Yilou), Mao Tofu (pan-fried until crispy outside and tender inside, recommended at Tunxi Old Street), Hu Shi Yipin Pot (multi-ingredient stew, recommended in Jixi County), Fuliji Braised Chicken (a specialty of Suzhou, recommended in Fuliji Town), and Huainan Beef Soup (tender meat and savory broth, recommended in Huainan City). III. Transportation

Anhui has convenient transportation, with Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, Huangshan Tunxi International Airport, and Anqing Tianzhushan Airport. The high-speed rail network is well-developed: from Hefei South Station to Huangshan North Station takes about 1.5 hours, and to Jiuhuashan Station about 1 hour. Cities within the province are connected by expressways, and there are tourist shuttle buses between scenic areas.

IV. Best Time to Travel

Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) have pleasant weather, ideal for mountain climbing and visiting ancient villages. Summer (June-August) is hot and rainy, but Mount Huangshan and Mount Jiuhua are summer resorts. Winter (December-February) offers stunning snow scenery on Mount Huangshan, but some attractions may be closed.
