Jiangxi

Jiangxi Province is located in southeastern China, on the southern bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It borders Fujian and Zhejiang to the east, Guangdong to the south, Hunan to the west, and Hubei and Anhui to the north. The total area is approximately 166,900 square kilometers, with a permanent population of about 45.27 million (2023). Historically known as 'the head of Wu and the tail of Chu, the household of Yue and the courtyard of Min,' Jiangxi is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization, renowned as the 'Red Cradle, Green Homeland, and Millennium Porcelain Capital.' It is home to China's largest freshwater lake, Poyang Lake, and world heritage sites such as Lushan, Sanqingshan, Longhushan, Guifeng, and Wuyishan (Jiangxi section), as well as Jingdezhen, the millennium porcelain capital, Wuyuan ancient villages, and the Nanchang August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall. Jiangxi is an important inheritance site for Confucian culture, Taoist culture, ceramic culture, and Hakka culture. Historically, it has produced cultural giants such as Tao Yuanming, Ouyang Xiu, Wang Anshi, Zhu Xi, and Wen Tianxiang. It is also the cradle of the Chinese revolution, with Jinggangshan and Ruijin witnessing the early struggles of the Communist Party of China. Jiangxi is extremely rich in ecological resources, with a forest coverage rate exceeding 63% and multiple national nature reserves, earning it the reputation of 'one of the greenest provinces in China.' The unique Jiangxi cuisine is known for its fresh, spicy, and mellow flavors. Specialties such as Jingdezhen porcelain, Wuyuan green tea, and Ganzhou navel oranges are renowned both at home and abroad. I. World Heritage Sites and Famous Mountains Jiangxi has 5 world heritage sites, ranking among the top in China. Lushan (south of Jiujiang city center, about 30 km away) is known as 'the most beautiful mountain under heaven.' Ticket: 160 yuan, opening hours: 7:00-18:00. Must-see attractions: Sandiequan Waterfall, Hanyang Peak, and Meilu Villa. Sanqingshan (Yushan County, Shangrao, about 80 km from city center) is famous for Taoist culture and peculiar peaks. Ticket: 120 yuan (cable car extra). Core attractions: Nanqing Garden, West Coast Plank Road, and Sanqing Palace. Longhushan (southwest of Yingtan city center, about 20 km away) is the ancestral home of the Zhengyi Taoist sect. Ticket: 120 yuan (including sightseeing car and bamboo raft). Don't miss: Coffin Hanging Show, Celestial Master's Mansion, and Shangqing Ancient Town. Guifeng (Yiyang County, Shangrao, about 40 km from city center) is known for Danxia landforms and pictographic rocks. Ticket: 60 yuan. The Jiangxi section of Wuyishan (Qianshan County) offers the highest peak in East China, Huanggang Mountain.
