Laoling City

Laoling City is located in the northeastern part of Dezhou City, Shandong Province, at the border of Shandong and Hebei provinces. It covers an area of approximately 1,172 square kilometers and has a permanent population of about 650,000. Laoling has a long history, established as a county in the early Western Han Dynasty, named 'Le' meaning 'happy tomb'. It is the origin and main production area of golden jujubes, known as the 'Hometown of Chinese Golden Jujubes', with over 3,000 years of jujube cultivation history. Laoling is not only an important agricultural base but also enjoys the reputation of a 'cultural vein' due to Confucius' disciple Nangong Kuo (Nangong Zi) having lectured here. In recent years, Laoling has developed a comprehensive tourism destination featuring 'Jujube Township Red Charm', integrating eco-tourism, red education, and historical culture. Its unique jujube forest landscape and red cultural relics make it distinctive in North China.

I. Core Attractions 1. Laoling Ten-Thousand-Mu Jujube Forest Scenic Area: Located in the northern part of the city, covering about 100,000 mu, it is one of the largest golden jujube planting areas in China. During the Jujube Festival from September to October, visitors can experience picking (ticket 30 yuan/person) and visit the Jujube Culture Museum (free). The scenic area has walking trails and observation decks, about 5 km from Laoling Bus Station, accessible by Bus No. 1. 2. Hebei-Shandong Border Revolutionary Memorial Park: Located in Zhuji Town, Laoling City, it is a national patriotic education base. The park preserves the tunnel warfare site from the Anti-Japanese War and a revolutionary memorial hall (open Tuesday to Sunday 9:00-17:00, free), showcasing the history of the Hebei-Shandong border region's military and civilian struggle. About 15 km from the city center, it is recommended to drive or take a taxi, about 20 minutes. 3. Confucian Temple (Nangongzi Temple): Located in the center of the old city, built in the Yuan Dynasty, it is a shrine commemorating Confucius' disciple Nangong Kuo. The architecture is simple and ancient, with Ming Dynasty stone tablets and ancient cypress trees. Open 8:00-18:00, ticket 10 yuan. Nearby, you can walk through the old city streets to experience traditional northern Shandong residential architecture.

Can be eaten directly or purchased as dried jujubes, jujube honey, etc. Recommended to buy from authentic jujube farmers at the entrance of the jujube forest scenic area (about 20 yuan/jin). 2. External Transportation: From Dezhou Railway Station or Dezhou East Station (high-speed rail), take intercity bus to Laoling (20 yuan, about 1.5 hours, every 30 minutes); or drive via Beijing-Shanghai Expressway to S248 Provincial Road. 2. Internal Transportation: There are 5 bus routes in the city (1 yuan), covering main attractions; taxi starting fare 6 yuan, recommended to use Didi for convenience.
