Pingyin County is located in the southwestern part of Jinan City, Shandong Province, at the intersection of the western extension of Mount Tai and the Yellow River alluvial plain. It covers an area of approximately 715 square kilometers and has a permanent population of about 370,000. Pingyin has a long history, belonging to the Qi State during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. The county was established in 596 AD during the Sui Dynasty, named for its location south of the ancient Ji River. Pingyin is renowned as the hometown of roses and Ejiao (donkey-hide gelatin) in China, famous for its heavy-petal red roses and authentic Fupai Ejiao. 1. Pingyin Rose Lake Wetland Park: Located in the west of the county, covering about 24 square kilometers, it is a national wetland park. The park features sparkling lakes, dense reeds, and spectacular rose blooms in spring. Visitors can take boat tours to observe rare birds. Admission: 60 yuan. Opening hours: 8:00-17:30.
2. Cuiping Mountain Scenic Area: Located 12 km south of the county, about 300 meters above sea level, known for its strange peaks, rocks, and ancient trees. The Duofo Pagoda, built in the Tang Dynasty, is a provincial cultural relic. Hiking takes about 2 hours. Admission: 40 yuan.

3. Hongfan Pool Spring Group: Located in Hongfanchi Town, one of the top ten spring groups in Jinan. Includes Hongfan Pool, Shuyuan Spring, Riyue Spring, etc., with clear water and constant temperature year-round. Hongfan Pool is known as 'the best spring in Qilu', with well-preserved ancient buildings. Free admission.
4. Pingyin Rose Garden: Located 5 km northeast of the county, covering 1,000 mu, a themed park integrating rose planting, viewing, and processing. The International Rose Culture Festival is held in May during the blooming season, offering flower picking and processing experiences. Admission: 50 yuan.
5. Dong'e Ancient City Ruins: Located 20 km east of the county, a major town for Ejiao production during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Preserved are the ancient Ejiao well, Ejiao workshop ruins, and century-old shops. Currently under restoration, partially free to visit.

2. Fupai Ejiao: Authentic Pingyin Ejiao, made from black donkey skin and water from the ancient Ejiao well, nourishing yin and enriching blood. Available at the Dong'e Town Ejiao Museum or specialty stores in the county.
3. Pingyin Tofu Skin: Thin as a cicada's wing, chewy texture, can be served cold or stir-fried. Recommended to taste freshly made tofu skin at the morning market in the county.
4. Yellow River Carp: Tender meat from the Pingyin section of the Yellow River, best prepared braised or sweet-and-sour. Available in many restaurants in the county.

III. Transportation Guide
1. External Transportation: About 80 km from downtown Jinan to Pingyin county. Direct buses from Jinan Long-distance Bus Station take about 1.5 hours, fare 25 yuan. Self-driving: Take the Jihe Expressway and exit at Pingyin.
2. Internal Transportation: County buses cover major attractions, fare 1-2 yuan. Taxi starting fare 6 yuan. Township buses are available to Cuiping Mountain, Hongfan Pool, etc.
