01Gaoling District
Gaoling District, under the jurisdiction of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the hinterland of the Guanzhong Plain at the confluence of the Jinghe and Weihe Rivers. It covers an area of 294 square kilometers and has a permanent population of approximately 470,000 (2023). Known as 'Gaoling' in ancient times, it was named after the Fengzheng Plateau (high mound) within its territory. Established as a county under Duke Xiao of Qin, it has a history of over 2,300 years. Gaoling is the site of the natural wonder 'Clear and Turbid Jing and Wei Rivers', and houses historical relics such as the Yangguanzhai Site (a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level) and Zhaohui Pagoda. As the core area of Xi'an's 'Northward Expansion' strategy, Gaoling is renowned for automobile manufacturing and modern agriculture, while preserving unique Guanzhong folk culture, earning it the title 'Heart of Guanzhong'. Its advantageous location, only 20 kilometers from Xi'an's main urban area, makes it an emerging urban district with both historical depth and modern vitality.
