01Dayu County is located…
Dayu County is located in the southwestern part of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, at the junction of Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Hunan provinces, serving as the southern gateway of Jiangxi. The county covers a total area of 1,367 square kilometers with a permanent population of about 300,000 (2020 data). Dayu has a long history; it belonged to Nanye County in the Qin Dynasty, and in the tenth year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui Dynasty (590 AD), Dayu County was established. In 1957, the character '庾' was changed to '余' due to its obscurity. It was an important site for the Ming Dynasty philosopher Wang Yangming's 'pacification' and 'education' practices, and also a battlefield where the Red Army broke through the first blockade line during the Long March. Dayu is renowned as the 'World Tungsten Capital', with tungsten reserves accounting for a significant global share. The Meiguan Ancient Road was a vital passage from the Central Plains to Lingnan in ancient times, known as the 'First Pass of Lingnan'. Additionally, Dayu is the 'Hometown of Chinese Daphne' and the 'Hometown of Chinese Flowers and Trees', rich in ecological and cultural resources, featuring red, ancient, and green tourism characteristics.
