Bozhou District is under the jurisdiction of Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. Located in the northern part of Guizhou, at the southern foot of the Dalou Mountains and the middle reaches of the Wujiang River, it is one of the main urban areas of Zunyi City and the former seat of Zunyi County (which was converted into a district in 2016). The district covers an area of approximately 2,490 square kilometers, with a permanent population of about 830,000 (2023 data). It administers 17 towns, 2 subdistricts, and 1 ethnic township. Bozhou has a long history; the ancient name 'Bozhou' originated in the 13th year of the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan era (639 AD), serving as an important administrative center in the southwest. Notably, the Yang clan ruled Bozhou as Tusi for 725 years (876–1601 AD), leaving a rich historical and cultural heritage. It is also a famous 'red tourism' node in China, being the site of the 'Forced Crossing of the Wujiang River' during the Long March. Bozhou District boasts a blend of natural scenery and cultural landscapes, with core resources such as the Wujiang Gorge, the Site of the Gouba Conference, and Yang Can's Tomb (a national cultural relic protection unit), earning it the reputation of 'Pearl of Northern Guizhou'.
Bozhou District is rich in tourism resources, featuring three major characteristics: red history, Tusi culture, and natural landscapes, making it an important part of Zunyi tourism.
