Chongqing Liberation Monument: An Eternal Monument to Victory and Urban Revival
Overview
The Chongqing Liberation Monument, officially named the "Monument to the Victory of the War of Resistance and the People's Liberation Monument," stands at the center of the intersection of Minzu Road, Minquan Road, and Zourong Road in Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It is a landmark building and a symbol of the city's spirit. The monument is 27.5 meters high, an octagonal columnar reinforced concrete structure with granite facing. It is not only a key national cultural relic protection unit but also the only monument in China commemorating the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The surrounding area has developed into Chongqing's most prosperous commercial pedestrian street—the Jiefangbei business circle—with an average daily foot traffic of over 300,000 people. It is a core urban area integrating historical commemoration, commercial shopping, and tourism.
